Worker Bee MCR launches £23K crowdfunding campaign

New tea and coffee brand for Manchester

Worker Bee MCR launches £23K crowdfunding campaign

Roger McBride, the founder and managing director of Didsbury-based RCoffee, has launched a £23K crowdfunding campaign to help launch a new tea and coffee brand; Worker Bee MCR.

Within the Worker Bee MCR portfolio are two teas (one traditional black tea and the other an infusion) and three types of coffee (a Columbian single origin, a pure Arabican coffee and a Swiss water decaffeinated).  Worker Bee MCR will also be swapping sugar sticks for honey sticks.

The aim is for Worker Bee MCR products to be stocked and served in select cafes, bars, restaurants and offices across Manchester, with the creation of a 100 Club.  A 10% donation from all wholesale tea and coffee sales will be given to two Manchester-based charities both focused on supporting community projects and helping the city’s homeless; We Love MCR and Forever Manchester.

Roger is seeking to raise £23,000 on Indiegogo to bring Worker Bee MCR to life; good tea and coffee doing good for Manchester.

The vision behind the Worker Bee MCR brand is clear; to raise the standards in tea and coffee both in terms of quality and experience, to give something back to the city of Manchester, and to encourage customers to buy locally produced products, plus get retailers to stock and use more local goods and services.

Roger says: “We want Worker Bee MCR to be the best tea and coffee in Manchester.  Over the last 12 months we have created a collection of bespoke tea and coffee blends, all premium products that will appeal to our discerning customers.  We are carefully considering each and every venue and will be offering expert barista training to all coffee shops and cafes to help them sell better quality tea and coffee, and improve on every element of the serve, including customer service.

“We are committed to supporting local businesses and community initiatives, and Worker Bee MCR allows us to do just that on an on-going daily basis.  We will be actively encouraging customers to choose independent businesses instead of frequenting the national retail chains, and at the end of every month, we will be donating significant sums to We Love MCR and Forever Manchester.”

For every pledge made to the crowdfunding campaign, Worker Bee MCR is offering a range of incentives, from branded merchandise to tea and coffee supplies.

Laura Baynham-Hughes from the Lord Mayor of Manchester's Charity - We Love MCR comments: “The launch of Worker Bee MCR is very exciting and we are thrilled they have chosen to support the We Love MCR Charity.  The concept of the brand is really unique and as a charity that supports Manchester communities we are delighted to be involved in this new product which Manchester can be really proud of.”

As of 7am on Friday 9th March 2018, the crowdfunding campaign had attracted a total of £1,649 in investment from 5 backers.
